What is Applied Behavior Analysis:
Applied Behavior Analysis is the science of human behavior. The field studies human behaviors by examining the relationships between behaviors and variables in the environments. These causal relationships give us information on why certain behaviors are occurring and how to change these behaviors if necessary.
Why Applied Behavior Analysis?
There are numerous reasons as to why one should use the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis when it comes to teaching skills and changing behaviors:
Extensive research evidence to support ABA-based interventions
Take control of behaviors when the “cause” is in the environment
Each person is unique; thus, each intervention/program is tailored for each person
Progress is observable through the use of objective measurement systems
Constant adjustments are made to each program to fit the person’s need
